Portrait Coffee

Founded in 2019 in Atlanta's historic West End, Portrait Coffee set out to change what people picture when they think of specialty coffee. Though coffee was first discovered in Africa, Black and brown faces have too often been cropped out of its story. Portrait exists to "pour a new narrative."

Cofounders Aaron Fender, Marcus Hollinger, and John Onwuchekwa built the company in a neighborhood rich with Black culture and small-business entrepreneurship, pushing for equity and representation at every step of the supply chain. Since launching, Portrait has been featured on Good Morning America, won the Google Black Founders Fund, and been named Sprudge's Most Notable Roaster.
